Neighbour Day

Neighbour Day is held on the last Sunday in March every year and it’s the perfect day to say thanks for being a great neighbor. It is Australia’s annual celebration of community, bringing together the people next door, across the street or in the local area for a party, a sausage sizzle or just a cuppa.

The principal aim of Neighbour Day is to build better relationships with the people who live around us, especially the elderly and vulnerable. Neighbours are important because good relationships with others can and do change communities. Social connection also makes us feel better as it helps prevent loneliness, isolation and depression. Neighbour Day brings together like-minded people, resources, and organisations to grow stronger, well connected communities.

In 2015 our neighbor day celebration was held in front of the pizza oven at the Coorparoo Community Garden. In 2016 we are gathering in the car park at Norman Park at 5pm on Easter Sunday, 27th March for a free sausage sizzle and Easter party with games, Easter egg hunt and other Easter themed activities.

All ages welcome to join in the fun.
